JOSEPH is a young Congolese man who survives the Sahara, a Libyan prison, and a sea crossing - only to find himself in a Montreal refugee camp, his education meaningless, his past a secret he cannot share. SYLVIE is a Canadian aid worker who returns from Guatemala shattered, seeking purpose in a city that feels like a foreign country. She volunteers at the same camp where Joseph struggles to survive.
Something forms between them in the cold. Fragile. Real. But when a city councilor is found dead in the camp with a ceremonial blade, Joseph is discovered standing over the body. The evidence points one way. Everything else points toward a twenty-year-old secret that someone is willing to kill to protect.
As a city demands justice and a system looks for the easiest answer, two people must decide what they're willing to believe and who they're willing to become. The truth is coming. But some truths destroy everything they touch.
The Crossing is a psychological thriller about migration, memory, and the price of looking away.
